Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
MoneyCam is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it, in compliance with the GDPR and applicable data protection law.
Who We Are
MoneyCam is developed by Iván Lage Vázquez, based in Spain. For any privacy-related question, reach us at support@moneycam.app.
What We Collect
- Account info: your email address, obtained through Google or Apple sign-in.
- Photos: pictures of coins and banknotes you scan. Stored locally on your device, and backed up to our servers (via Backblaze B2) for cross-device sync.
- Usage data: your scans, detected values, timestamps, and remaining credits.
- Subscription data: your active plan and credit balance.
We do not collect location data, and we never see your payment details — those are handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play.
Why We Collect It
We use this data solely to provide the service: authenticate you, detect coins and banknotes in your photos, sync your scans across devices, and manage your subscription and credits. We also use it to respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations where applicable.
Third-Party Services
To provide MoneyCam, we share data with:
- Supabase (authentication) — privacy policy
- Google Gemini API (coin/banknote detection from your photos) — privacy policy
- Backblaze B2 (encrypted photo backup, EU servers) — privacy policy
- RevenueCat (subscription management) — privacy policy
- Apple App Store / Google Play (payment processing — we never see your card details) — Apple / Google
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards under GDPR, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How Long We Keep Your Data
We keep your data as long as your account stays active. If you delete your account, your personal data — including your email and backed-up photos — is permanently deleted immediately. We retain a one-way cryptographic hash of your email (which cannot be reversed to reveal it) solely to prevent abuse of the free tier if you create a new account.
Your Rights
Under GDPR, you can request to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict how we process it
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent, where processing is based on it
To exercise any of these, email support@moneycam.app with the subject "GDPR Request". We'll respond within one month (extendable by two more months for complex requests). You can also file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) at aepd.es.
Security
We protect your data with industry-standard encryption in transit and secure, access-controlled cloud storage. Authentication is handled entirely by Google or Apple — we never see or store your password.
Cookies
MoneyCam is a native mobile app and does not use cookies or advertising trackers.
Age Requirement
MoneyCam is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger than that. If we become aware that we have, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you in the app or by email at least 15 days before any change takes effect. Continued use of MoneyCam after that means you accept the updated policy.
